What happens when a natural disaster threatens to delay a life-saving stem cell transplant? You find another way—no matter what it takes.
Two weeks ago, one of our dedicated On Board Couriers set out on a critical mission: delivering life-saving stem cells from the U.S. to Australia.
But Cyclone Alfred had other plans.
The flight to Brisbane had to be diverted to Sydney due to the cyclone, leaving considerably less time to get the cells to the patient in time.
The clock was ticking…
Without hesitation, the courier and the COO of the Australian Stem Cell Registry embarked on a 600km journey from Sydney to Glen Innes. Upon arrival, they met with a representative from the Queensland Ambulance Service, who ensured the final leg of the journey was completed without delay. From the U.S. to Glen Innes, our courier stayed with the cells every step of the way—ensuring they arrived on time for the patient’s transplant.
This story is a testament to the unwavering dedication, teamwork, and determination of everyone involved. It highlights how, even in the face of unexpected obstacles, people come together to deliver hope—one life-saving delivery at a time.
