When every detail matters: Transforming the impossible into a success
The mission
A Boeing 787 inlet cowl, a critical component for one of our client’s aircraft, was stranded at Hong Kong Airport due to a tight fight issue.
The challenge
Re-loading attempts are costly and uncertain. And the client’s schedule left no room for delay. Other shippers had already stepped away from the challenge. But we stepped in.
The transport
Collaboration with the customer, seasoned engineers and technical experts began straight away.
A quick audit of past successes revealed that the same cowl had flown a 747-400 into Narita Airport in the past. There it was – proof that a solution existed.
Strategic Partnering
We mapped every potential handling point: Hong Kong, Shanghai, Zhengzhou, and beyond.
After a thorough assessment, the most viable route surfaced: a Cathay Cargo flight from Hong Kong to Tokyo Narita.
Precision Engineering
At the Hong Kong cargo terminal, a joint task force of time:matters experts, client cargo specialists and airline ground handlers, took five intense hours meticulously evaluating and refining the shipment dimensions.
With repackaging ingenuity and barely any margin to spare, the team turned a “no” into a “go.”

Other hurdles
But even with careful preparation, the journey ahead was anything but smooth…
- A noise reduction door malfunction forced a brief halt for safety.
- A delayed inbound aircraft narrowed the loading window, but our team adapted on the fly.
Despite these setbacks, the cargo was loaded, the flight departed on schedule, and the cowl arrived at Narita without a single complication.
The result
We took on a task that others deemed impossible. We showed perseverance, so no obstacle halted our progress.
Innovation led to practical, flexible solutions.
We paid great attention to minute details, because every millimeter mattered. Great teamwork ensures seamless coordination between partners.
And last, but not least: We met adversity head on and showed resilience.
Solving urgent, high-stakes logistics challenges isn’t just part of our business - it’s our mission.
