Just in case something does go wrong: comprehensive insurance coverage for goods and consequential losses of goods

time:matters customers can directly take out a transport insurance policy when they book their shipment, enabling them to do so in an uncomplicated and comfortable manner. This policy offers significantly extended coverage at a very affordable premium – especially for cases that entail the transport of valuable goods.

While the legal liability for the damage of goods, meaning the damage or loss of a shipment, is merely limited to the pure weight of the goods, the claims payment of the transport insurance offered by time:matters is oriented towards the goods’ actual value as listed by the customer (such as the replacement and as the case may be market value or the retail list price). For this, time:matters provides a clear and transparent premium structure:

  • There are only two different groups of goods: “general commercial goods” (e.g. medical products, biological substances and electronic components), which can be insured up to a merchandise value of 50,000 Euro, as well as “special commercial goods” (for example documents or cell phones), whose maximum insurable value of goods is 5,000 Euro.
  • The insurance premium for transport within Europe ranges between 20 Euro (for goods valued up to 2,500 Euro) and 250 Euro (for goods valued at 50,000 Euro). Upon request arrangements can be made for worldwide insurance coverage.

The transport insurance offers one additional customer advantage with regards to the consequential losses of goods or pure financial losses, meaning supplementary losses that result from a shipment being damaged or delivered late to the recipient, or getting lost.

Such damages that for example could cause production losses resulting from an assembly line standstill or an additional day needed for technical expertise are almost always excluded from legal liability – this is not the case with time:matters transport insurance: this renders up to 100,000 Euro per claim, regardless of the value of goods that are shipped.

The detailed policy terms and conditions are summarized and included as an attachment to our General Transport Conditions, which you can view here.
