The ZKRD locates suitable donors for hematopoietic stem cell transplantations every day. Once a donor has been identified, the patient is prepared for the transplantation. From this point on, the patient can no longer survive without the donor’s hematopoietic stem cells. Now everything depends on perfect synchronization: the courier must be on site before the beginning of the hematopoietic stem cell donation, so that he can upon completion, immediately bring the stem cells to the transplantation clinic. Sometimes a second apheresis is necessary to ensure that enough cells are available. Then time:matters responds immediately. The responsible employee develops a new route for the On Board Courier, so that the hematopoietic stem cells reach the patient on time. time:matters has developed a customized transport concept together with the ZKRD. In accordance with ZKRD standards, the experienced On-Board-Courier never lets the shipment out of his sight. He drives to the airport with a taxi and takes the shipment with him in the cabin as a piece of carry-on luggage. Special transport boxes designed for hematopoietic stem cells ensure a constant temperature. Due to periodic information regarding the status of the shipment, ZKRD and the transplantation clinic are constantly aware of where the hematopoietic stem cells are. In the end the courier only hands the donation over to the specified doctor. The transplantation takes place that very same day.
