At the Special Service Desk (SSD) from time:matters a call comes in on Thursday march 27 at 13:00, that a shipment for a five star luxury hotel must be delivered from Vienna to Adeje, located in southern Tenerife. In this particular case the most important aspect is reliability, not speed. The minimum requirement is for the delivery to arrive safely and undamaged early Saturday morning at the hotel in Adeje. After all that is where the scavenger hunt is scheduled to take place with high-profile guests and they certainly do not want to leave without their prizes.

Only a customized solution is a good solution
Marco Dehler, the colleague from SSD, searches for the fastest possible and at the same time safest solution. He opts for a combination of two services form time:matters: Sameday and OBC.

The somewhat different type of scavenger hunt begins
After Marco Dehler books the order at time:matters headquarters in Neu Isenburg, the shipment is picked up by a time:matters courier partner in Guntramsdorf near Vienna and handed over at the time:matters counter at Vienna Airport. From there it is flown sameday to Frankfurt, where it lands at 19:40. The shipment already arrives at the Courier Terminal from time:matters at Frankfurt Airport at 20:30. Since a safe delivery is of the utmost importance, the shipment remains optimally guarded and protected at the Courier Terminal until February 23, before the On Board Courier (OBC) Reiner Kesternich receives it. As soon as the OBC acquires the shipment he notices that the four pieces do not, as was announced, weigh 20 kilograms, but rather 35 kilograms and are somewhat larger than indicated in the booking. However, within the European Union loading is only done according to weight and not size, which is why the OBC is now faced with the problem of excess weight.

Thorough planning is half of the job
Thanks to the well thought out logistics solution of the SSD employee Marco Dehler and the reliable supervision of the shipment by the OBC Reiner Kesternich, the shipment is delivered to the luxury resort in Adeje, Tenerife, two days before the required time on February 23 at 12:00 in the afternoon.
